BMW MINI B38 Rod Bolts – ARP Connecting Rod Bolts – Engineered for Strength and Precision
The BMW and MINI B38 three-cylinder turbo engine is known for efficiency and performance, but under high boost, tuning, or racing conditions, the factory rod bolts are a weak link. Stretching or failure of OEM bolts can lead to catastrophic rod bearing or crankshaft damage.
The 5150 AutoSport ARP Connecting Rod Bolt Kit is designed specifically for the B38, providing unmatched strength, reliability, and precision fitment. Manufactured in the USA by Automotive Racing Products (ARP), these bolts are the industry standard for high-performance and racing applications.
Key Benefits for B38 Engines:
- Exceptional Strength: Handles the stress of tuned and high-RPM B38 builds far beyond OEM capability
- Enhanced Durability: Outstanding fatigue resistance for long-lasting performance
- Precision Fitment: Engineered specifically for BMW and MINI B38 connecting rods
- Protects Against Failure: Prevents bolt stretch and rod cap movement under extreme loads
Each B38 Rod Bolts kit includes:
- 12 ARP high-performance connecting rod bolts
- ARP assembly lubricant for precise installation
- Torque specifications for consistent and secure fitment
Whether your B38 powers a BMW i8, 118i, 218i, or MINI Cooper, ARP Connecting Rod Bolts are the ultimate safeguard when rebuilding, tuning, or pushing power beyond factory limits. Trusted by professional builders and enthusiasts alike, this upgrade ensures confidence and reliability at any performance level.
Installation Instructions:
- Ensure there is an adequate chamfer around the bolt hole on the connecting rod bolt hole on the connecting rod cap to clear the radius under the head of the bolt
- Use ARP Ultra-Torque Fastener Assembly Lubricant to lubricate the threads of the bolt and the under head of the bolt. Then install the bolts and tighten them them hand tight.
- ARP recommends using the Stretch Method when tightening rod bolts. Following the instructions for using a stretch gauge, stretch the bolts to 0.0070 - 0.0075.
- If you do not have a stretch gauge, torque the bolts to 36 ft-lbs using ARP Ultra-Torque Fastener Assembly Lubricant.
- The connecting rods should always be re-sized after new rod bolts are installed.
- A log should be kept on the original non-torqued length of each bolt. Bolts that have any permanent deformation or have increased in non-torqued length by more than 0.001 inch should be replaced.
