BMW Engine Bed Plate / Main Bearing Cap Bolt – Sold Individually

This engine bed plate bolt is a critical fastener used to secure the crankshaft bed plate to the engine block on select BMW engines. Unlike traditional main bearing caps, BMW’s bed plate design provides increased rigidity and crankshaft stability—but only when proper clamping force is maintained. For this reason, these bolts must be replaced during any engine rebuild.

Over time and repeated torque cycles, OEM bed plate bolts can stretch and lose their ability to maintain precise clamping force. Reusing old bolts increases the risk of crankshaft movement, oil pressure loss, and catastrophic bottom-end failure. Replacing these bolts during assembly ensures proper main bearing alignment and long-term engine durability, especially in performance or forced-induction applications.
