BMW S58 Exhaust VANOS Full Elimination – Race Use Only

In extreme horsepower BMW S58 racing applications, the exhaust VANOS system can become a limitation rather than an advantage.

The S58 high-pressure fuel pumps are driven by the exhaust camshaft. As fuel demand increases, the additional load required to drive the pumps places significant resistance on the exhaust cam and VANOS system. At extreme power levels, high RPM, and heavy load, the VANOS system can struggle to maintain the commanded exhaust cam position.

Rather than modifying the factory VANOS system to increase its operating range, our 5150 S58 Exhaust VANOS Full Elimination completely removes exhaust VANOS adjustment and converts the exhaust camshaft to a fixed mechanical timing position.

This solution is designed specifically for dedicated race engines where consistent and repeatable exhaust cam timing is more important than variable camshaft operation.

Why Eliminate Exhaust VANOS?

At extreme power levels, exhaust cam movement can become inconsistent due to the increased load placed on the system. Any unwanted change in exhaust cam position can affect engine performance and make calibration less predictable.

By mechanically eliminating exhaust VANOS operation, the exhaust cam is locked into a predetermined position and can no longer advance or retard under load.

Includes the components required to perform the 5150 S58 Exhaust VANOS Elimination. Intended for professional engine builders and machine shops capable of performing the required modification and setup.

Option 2 – Complete VANOS Elimination Service
Send us your S58 exhaust VANOS core, and our engine shop will perform the complete elimination and fixed-timing conversion.

Core Requirement: Your original S58 exhaust VANOS unit must be supplied when selecting the Complete Elimination Service. No core is required for the Parts Only option.

Engine Setup & Tuning Required

This modification completely eliminates variable exhaust camshaft timing. The exhaust camshaft must be mechanically timed to the desired fixed position during engine setup.

ECU calibration must also be modified accordingly so the engine management system no longer attempts to operate or monitor the exhaust VANOS system in its factory configuration.

Professional engine assembly and custom tuning are required.

RACE USE ONLY

This product is intended strictly for dedicated competition and race vehicles. It is not intended for street-driven vehicles or applications where factory VANOS operation, emissions functionality, drivability, or OEM engine-management strategies must be retained.

For maximum-effort S58 race engines, eliminating exhaust VANOS removes another variable from the equation and provides one thing that matters at extreme power and RPM: consistent, repeatable exhaust cam timing.
