BMW ARP head studs are high-strength fasteners designed to secure the engine's cylinder head to the engine block. These studs are typically made of high-quality materials such ARP2000, L19, Inconel, and Custom Age 625+, which provide exceptional strength and durability.

ARP head studs are commonly used in high-performance, racing, and forced induction BMW engines where increased cylinder pressure and higher operating temperatures can put excessive strain on the head gasket and cylinder head. By using ARP head studs, the clamping force on the cylinder head is increased, which helps to prevent head gasket failure and ensure reliable engine performance.

  • ARP2000 has a tensile strength of 220,000 psi.
  • L19 has a tensile strength of 260,000 psi.
  • Custom Age 625+ 280,000 psi.

Different BMW engines have different requirements when it comes to head stud kits. For example, the head stud kit for a BMW S54 engine would be different from the one for a BMW M50 engine. This is because each engine has different specifications when it comes to bolt size, thread pitch, and torque specifications.

Therefore, ARP offers head stud kits in different options to match the requirements of different BMW engines. This ensures that the head stud kit provides the necessary strength and durability for the specific engine it is installed in. It's important to choose the correct head stud kit for your specific BMW engine to ensure the best performance and reliability.

After initial assembly, it is necessary to allow the engine to complete a full heat cycle, then re-torque your head studs to spec. This means allowing the engine to warm up to its normal operating temperature, remain at operating temperature for several minutes to ensure each component is uniformly heated, then turned off and cooled completely to ambient temperature.
