Washer Alignment

On ARP stud kits that include washers, you may notice one side of the washer is textured while the other is smooth.

The textured side should face ‘down,’ towards the surface you are torquing, like a cylinder head or main cap. The smooth side should face ‘up,’ towards the nut.

Torque Specs

Did you know that ARP fasteners have different torque specs than OEM? Every fastener has a limit to which it can be stretched, AKA yield. The yield of a fastener is determined by its materials and design. Torquing beyond this spec will stretch the fastener beyond its original length, compromising its integrity.

Head Stud Re-Torque

Only required after your initial heat cycle, re-torque ensures that your engine is properly clamped by ensuring that the components which compress and conform during the initial heat cycle (head gaskets, for example) are still properly and evenly clamped, sealed, and aligned.
